Thomas Curry was born in Plymouth County, Iowa, on 27 October 1856 and came with his family to Holt County, Missouri in 1857.

In his teens, he apprenticed as a printer, working over the years for the Missouri Valley Times and the Holt County Press. In 1883, Tom Curry and David P. Oregon
created Dobyns & Curry, owners and publishers of the Holt County Sentinel.

Tom was also postmaster of Oregon, Missouri, from 1897 to 1907.

Tom Currry and Christina Wilhelmina Fiegenbaum, daughter of Rev. Heinrich Hermann and Clara Catherine (Kastenbudt) Fiegenbaum, were married on 18 February 1885 at St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri. They were the parents of two children.
