Heinrich Frederick Wilhelm Nolte
and
Maria Charlotte Fiegenbaum
Someone who's handwriting in German could well be current with the age of the photo has provided this information on the back of the photo:
Fred und Mary 24 23 [Verm?]ählt den 30ten Oct. 90.
While I have not been successful in recognizing or translating the first word in the the third line, I think it is safe to say in the context that this is a portrait of the newly married Fred, age 24, and Mary, age 23.
At some later date, another person decided that the couple shown in the photo were Mr. & Mrs. Hasenjaeger, but this notion appears to have been rejected.
Finally, J. W. Fiegenbaum has added the notation (Nolte), probably at some time in the later half of the 20th century. This I believe is the correct identification.
Byron H. Nolte has confirmed with his genealogical research that this photograph depicts his ancestors, Heinrich Frederick Wilhelm Nolte and Maria Charlotte Fiegenbaum.
According to marriage records in Lafayette County, Missouri, "Fred W. Nolte" and "Mary C. H. Fiegenbaum" both residents of Mayview, Missouri, received a marriage license at Lexington, Missouri on 23 October 1890. They were married on 30 October at Mayview by "Wno. Buehler, evang. Pastor." Rev. William Buehler was the pastor of Zion German Evangelical Church at Mayview from 1887 to 1913.
