These three portraits were published in The Pulse, the yearbook of Central Wesleyan College at Warrenton, Missouri.

Charles earned an A.B. degree from the college in 1894. After teaching Latin, Greek and mathematics at Charles City College, Charles City, Iowa, and post-graduate work at the University of Chicago, Charles returned to Central Wesleyan College in 1900 as a professor of Latin and Greek.
