"Theodor and Emma were married April 3, 1902 at the home of the bride’s parents, by the Rev.Theodore Hoefer of the Salem Evangelical and Reform Church, Higginsville, Missouri."

The return certified that "Theo. H. Hoefer," "ordained minister of the Gospel," did marry the above name persons at Higginsville, Lafayette County, on 3 April 1902 and filed the Certificate of Marriage with the County Recorder on 4 April 1902.
