In 1896, he was united in marriage to Louise Uthlaut of the Hostein Community....They lived with his mother and were members of the Femme Osage church. Their six children were born & baptized there and Herman, the oldest son was confirmed there.
           "In 1913 the family moved to Treloar and became members of the Hostein Church.....The other children Esther, Erwin, Thalita, Carl Jr. and Walter were all confirmed in the Holstein Church."
