           It is solely on the basis of this document that I have settled on the order of given names, even though later sources indicate that this woman was known to family, friends and the community as Florentine.

The family departed Bremen aboard the ship Rebecca and landed in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 4, 1851. They settled in eastern Missouri.

           Joseph Riegur certified two other marriages just above this entry and in both of those cases he was identified as a "German Evangel. Minister." Joseph Rieger was the Pastor of the German Evangelical Church on Charrette in Holstein, Missouri from 1847 to 1860 (the church has been known as Immanuels United Church of Christ since 1957).
