    •      In the genealogical report compiled by Earl and Linwood Jungerman, the place of John Henry's birth is identified as "Essen Kruis, Essen Prussia." There is some difficulty in determining just what locality is being referred to here. It seems probable that "Kruis" is a misspelling of the German word "Kreis" (an administrative district) and that the punctuation in this phrase may be a little confused. Until we can return to the primary sources for verification, we have tentatively identified this place as the city of Essen in Westphalia. This is pure speculation on our part.

John Henry Louis Wesseler & Sophia Wulfekammer. In the original typescript, the date of "1 October 1894 in Weldon Springs, St. Charles County, Missouri" is given as a second birth date for John. This is an obvious error which someone has corrected by hand so that the same information is now given as a marriage date for John and Sophia. However, this appears to be in error as well - John would have been 76 years old at the time of his marriage, which would have taken place 19 years after the birth of his 12th and last child. In all probability, 1 October 1894 is the date of his death.
