    • Martin and Emelie received their marriage license on 24 October 1882 and were married two days later by Rev. Henry F. Hoefer, "A Minister of the Gospel." Rev. Hoefer was pastor of Salem Evangelical Church, Higginsville.
           According to the 1900 U.S. census, Martin and Emelie were the parents of ten children, but only nine were living at the time of the enumeration. The exact number of children born and information about a tenth child are not known at this time.
