Simon Winter "came to Amercia when he was 17 years old, a tailor by trade, and landed in St. Louis, Missouri. He was in the cholera epidemic in 1844, but survived with no serious consequences." "Later, his brother, whose name is unknown, migrated up the river, presumably around Bowling Green, Missouri, but the two brothers never saw each other again."

He was widowed at the time of death; the spouse's name was not recorded. Principal cause of death was nephritis; duration of 1 year, 6 months. Contributory cause was acute bronchitis of 4 days duration. Burial was to be 25 March 1912 in German M. E. Church Cemetery. The undertaker was [River?] Bros., of Truxton, Missouri.
