    • Simon married two sisters, Theresa and Christina. Their surname appears as either Springer, Springel, or Sprenger. The exact spelling of the surname remains to be confirmed. The 1860 U.S. Census enumeration shows two children in the household who do not appear in subsequent census returns: John Winter, age 3 (born about 1856-57) and Christina Winter, age 1 (born about 1858-59). These names are also not included in genealogical reports from other researchers. It is not known at this time if these are children of Simon and Christina who died in infancy or were only temporary members of the household in 1860.

Died 12:15 a.m. on 19 January 1927, at Truxton, Prairie Township, Lincoln County, Missouri at the age of 72 years, 15 months, 18 days. He was a retired farmer. He was married at the time of death to Christina. Principal cause of death was "gastro intestinal catarrh with haemorage;" duration of 8 days. Contributory cause was "cardiac insufficiency." Burial was to be 21 January 1927 in German M. E. Church Cemetery. The undertaker was A. J. [River?], of Bellflower. Personal information was provided by Theodore E. Winter, of [Jonesburg?], Missouri, R.R. Dr. N. L. [Dinnert?], MD, of Truxton, Missouri, had attended the deceased from 9 January 1927 to 18 January 1927.
