Her usual residence was 2616 Potomac, Ward 24, St. Louis, Missouri. She did house work. She was widowed at the time of death; spouse's name not recorded. Cause of death was "Chronic Valvular Heart Disease;" the date of onset was "1925(?)." Contributory cause of death was "Chronic Interstitial nephritis;" the date of onset was also"1925(?)." The diagnosis was confirmed by "physical examination." There was no autopsy. Burial, cremation or removal was to be 31 January 1933 to or at Park Lawn. The undertaker was Wm. Schumacher, of 3013 Meramec Street. Personal information was provided by Eugene Gerber, of 2616 Potomac. A. R. [Ahreffler?], MD, of 1020 Mo Bldg., St. Louis, had attended the deceased from 12 January 1933 to 28 January 1933 and signed the certificate. At that time, living with Margaret was her 12 year old grand daughter, Louisa Maeser. Other sources indicate that Margaretha's husband, August Etling, died in December 1876. If it is correct, as stated in the census, that the marriage lasted for 24 years, it would seem that August and Margaretha were married about 1852.

      Letters of Administration; dated and signed 20 March 1916; John Dinsbeer [sic], executor, "to whom letters testamentary were heretofore granted on the estate of said deceased [Margaretha Etling] has since departed this life; ...these letters of administration de bonis non with the will annexed are hereby granted to George L. Gerber." In her will, signed 15 February 1911, Margaretha writes about her daughter, Charlotte Gerber, wife of George L. Gerber.
