    • According to her death certificate, Clara died at 9:00 p.m. in Lexington Memorial Hospital, about 16 hours after being shot in the home two miles south of Lexington that she shared with her brother, Otto, and his wife. Otto shot his sister about 5:00 a.m. with a 22 caliber rifle and then committed suicide.

Died at 9:00 p.m. on 23 April 1952 at Lexington Memorial Hospital, Lexington, Lafayette County, Missouri at the age of 59 years, 11 months, 26 days after a stay at the hospital of 16 hours. Her usual residence was Lexington, Lafayette County, Missouri, 2 miles south on 13 Highway. She was single (had never married) at the time of death. She was a housekeeper in her own home. She was not a veteran; her social security number was "lost." Cause of death was "Gunshot wound of head; wound of entry-left temple; wound of exit-center of forehead. 22 calibre rifle. shot by brother who then committed suicide." Interval between onset and death was 16 hours. The death was described as a homicide; "Shot by brother with homicidal intent" at her home at Lexington, Missouri at 5:00 a.m. on 23 April 1952. There was no autopsy. Burial was to be 27 April 1952 in Buckner Hill Cemetery at Buckner, Missouri. Vernon M. Reppert, of Buckner, Missouri, was the funeral director. Personal information provided by Paul Knapheide, of Buckner, Missouri. W. E. Martin, MD, of Odessa, Missouri, had attended the deceased after death on 23 April 1952 and signed the death certificate on 23 April 1952. The certificate was received by the local registrar on 30 April 1952.
