They were born in England and emmigrated to the U.S. My grandfather, Martin Scott Nelson, was the son of Richard Nelson, a printer in Durham, England. My grandfather entered the printing business in St. Joseph."

From a follow-up email on 15 July 2008, "Charlton" is the correct spelling.
