"He [Herman H. Bierbaum] was born in Munster Wester Cappeln, Germany, October 15, 1824, and was a son of John F. and Katherine M. Bierbaum, who emigrated to America in 1834 and settled in St. Charles county. The mother died there in 1864, and the father in 1880, at the age of 81."
