Temple [sic]," of Mayview, Missouri, and "Emma Starkebaum," of Higginsville, Missouri, received a marriage license at Lexington on 31 March 1902. Theodore and Emma were married in her parent's home at Higginsville by Rev. Theodore Hoefer, pastor of Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church, of Higginsville. The couple lived on two different farms in the Higginsville area, where they raised their own seven children and also a niece, Frieda Tempel.
