He reported that he was a preacher at Oakville, employed by the Methodist Church and that his wife was dependant upon him for support. He claimed no exemption from the draft. The Registrar of the local draft board, C. D. Krug, described Arthur as a tall man of medium build; with blue eyes and light brown hair. There were no other physical characteristics that would disqualify Arthur for military service.
