    • There is some indication that Louise, who last name is presently unknown, may have been Ernst's first wife. There is record of a marriage license issued in Madison County, Illinois on 28 February 1859 to Ernst Kriege and Sophia Timpe, hinting that Ernst may have married a second time. These facts require further research.

    1. [S119] Harriet L. Fiegenbaum and Judith L. (Fiegenbaum) Miller, Genealogical research.
      Citing a note typed by their father, Bruce Otto Fiegenbaum, who worked as the Supervisor of Maps and Plats in Madison County, Illinois in the 1960s & 1970s.
           According to the note, Ernst Kriege was married to a woman named Louise (no last name). No date of marriage. Their children were: Catharina Carolina Kriege, Maria Emilia Kriege, and Frederick August Kriege; no dates supplied for any of the children.
           There is a further hand-written notation from Bruce Fiegenbaum that Ernst Kriege and Sophia Timpe were issued a marriage license on 28 February 1859. This seems to imply that Ernst was married a second time.
