Friedrich Jurgen Meinershagen, child of Friedrich Wilhelm Meinershagen and Marie Wilhelmine Brinkmann, was born on 22 November 1845.
The place of birth of Friedrich Jurgen Meinershagen is not explicitedly stated. Fred H. Meinershagen writes of the parents on page 3: "Married by the Reverend H. Garlechs [sic] of Femme Osage United Church of Christ [sic], they lived in Warren County before moving to Lafayette County in 1882." On page 12, he writes: "The birth of Friedeich Jurgen Meinershagen is recorded in entry 346 Femme Osage United Church of Christ [sic]; also, in Family Bible of Wilhelm and Mina Meinershagen as Friedrich Jurgen. The name Jurgen, a welcome spark of originality in the family system of naming children and a long needed departure from a preponderance of Johns, Wilhelms, Heinrichs, Wihelminas, and Marias apparently was not appreciated by its bearer. He never used it. It was 'Friedrich George [sic] and Meina [sic] Maria' when they were married at Holstein, Missouri, on March 31, 1870. It was 'Fred G.' or 'F. G.' whenever he signed his name."
