"LOUIS KERSTEN born March 10, 1857 near Holstein, MO married CAROLINE UTLAUT.... Rev. J. J. Mayer, pator of Immanuel Evangelical Church, Holstein, MO, married them on November 16, 1893 at the Kersten home near Holstein, MO. With the exception of a few years, the couple lived on a farm west of Treloar, MO. all of their lives, LOUIS being a farmer. They were the parents of FLORENCE, EMMA, ALMA, ARLIE, IDA, WALTER, DINA and ERWIN. The couple was privileged to observe their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1943 and was married over 55 years when death separated them."
