    • The year of the marriage has been reported as either 1906 or 1907. For the following 6-8 years, Fred and Pearl farmed in Wawota, Saskatchewan, Canada. Their first child was born in Canada. The family then moved to a farm near Ankeny, Iowa. Pearl's obituary states that this was about 1916, but it seems likely that it happened earlier; the couple's second child was born in 1914 at Ankeny.
