    Heinrick used his skills to help construct the first church building in Beck, Missouri. St. John's Church, organized in 1848 and one of the oldest Lutheran congregations west of the Mississippi, was meeting in the homes of parishioners when the Jungermann family arrived in Jefferson County, Missouri in 1855. Some time later, Heinrick participated in building a log church on land donated by Mr. Beck. During the winter months, Heinrick used his trade to supplement his income. His wife, Elisabeth, recorded that one winter he earned what she calculated was nine and one-half cents an hour fashioning barrel hoops out of willow and cottonwood. The money helped the family buy 25 acres of Mississippi bottom land for twelve and one-half cents per acre.

    At the time of her marriage to Johann Heinrick Daniels Jungermann, Elisaebeth was the widow of the former Heinrick Geitz. Her maiden name is not known at this time.

    Immigration:
    Many of the facts of Elisaebeth's life in the United States come from her memoir, "a clear, concise, well-dated record of her entire family" written in German in a small ledger book. The memoir was shared with Earl & Linwood Jungerman by Elisaebeth's great-grandson, Arthur Reinbolt.

    Birth:
    The Kleinern Ortssippenbuch, published in 1996, records the date of Conrad's death as 3 January 1849, at an age of 47 years and 8 months. This yields a calculated date of birth of 3 May 1801. Other sources give the date as 30 April 1801.

    Occupation:

         Conrad has been identified in the Kleinern Ortssippenbuch (a compiled genealogy of the town of Kleinern) as a "Schuhmachermeister" (a master shoemaker) and also a "Köthner" or a cottager, meaning that he had rights to a small house, a garden and a small plot of land on which to raise a limited amount of livestock.
