Rudolph's obituary in 1915 states that he had been in business at 3903 Eastern Avenue in St. Louis for six years. Prior to that his drug store had been located at North Market Street and Vandeventer Avenue.

Died:
Rudolph died in the early evening at his drug store at 3903 Easton Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri. According to testimony at the coroner's inquest, Rudolph had mentioned a slight pain in the center of his chest about 4:00 that afternoon. A little later, he received a phone call to come and collect his car from the garage. Upon his return to work at around 5:00 p.m., Rudolph's health had deteriorated and he asked his clerk, Louis Franklin Westlake, to call for Dr. Carl J. Mueller, a neighbor and personal friend. Dr. Mueller found Rudolph "pacing the floor and complaining of a excruciating pain in the pit of his stomach," but was unable to bring his patient relief. The coroner fixed the time of death at about 5:45 p.m., the result of hypertrophy of the heart, with valvular disease as a contributing factor.
