         According to the 1910 U.S. enumeration, Clyde Martin, age 9, lived on a farm in Plum Creek Precinct with his parents, Jessie D. and Maggie B. Martin, and his three siblings: Clara L. Martin, age 13; Eva M. Martin, age 7; and Raymond Martin, age 4.

    Residence:

         According to information on his World War I draft registration card, filed on 12 September 1918, Clyde William Martin, age 18, lived at 27 RD 1, Boone, Boone County, Nebraska. Clyde listed his father, J. D. Martin, as his next of kin, and he lived at the same address. Clyde reported that he was engaged in farming, employed by his father. The Registrar of the local draft board described Clyde as a man of medium height and build; with blue eyes and brown hair. There were no other physical characteristics that would disqualify Clyde for military service.

    Census:

         According to the 1920 U.S. enumeration, Clyde Martin, age 19, lived and worked on his family's farm in Springfield Precinct with his father, Jesse D. Martin (age 55), a widower, and three siblings: Eva Martin, age 17; Raymond Martin, age 14 and attending school; and Floyd Martin, age 8 and attending school.

    He was buried in Fairview Cemetery. He and his wife share a grave maker.

         The following is a transcription supplied by Frances Gretchen (Klein) Leenerts of an obituary for Clyde William Martin. Gretchen Leenerts reported that the obituary had appeared in the Omaha World Herald, of Omaha, Nebraska.

         Martin - Clyde W., age 88 years. Survived by wife, Roberta; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Louise and Frank Mann, Omaha; son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Lucille Martin of Millard; brother Floyd of Crescent City, California; grandchildren Robert Mann, Susanne Childers, Nancy Clark, Sheiley Martin; 6 great grandchildren. Services Thursday 2:00 p.m. Kahler-Dolce Mortuary. Interment at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday 1-9 p.m. Memorials to the St. Paul Methodist Church, Benson, or the American Heart Association. Kahler-Dolce, Papillion, Nebraska.

Roberta (daughter of Fiegenbaum, Heinrich F. and Montgomery, Nellie Blanche) was born 12 Jul 1906, Springfield, Sarpy County, Nebraska, USA; died 2004; was buried , Papillion, Sarpy County, Nebraska, USA.          Other research has reported that Roberta was born in 1906 at Springfield, Nebraska. Paperwork filed at the time of Roberta's marriage in 1923 indicates that the birth was at Peru, Nebraska and might have taken place about 1904 or 1905.

         According to marriage records in Fremont County, Iowa, Clyde W. Martin, of Albion, Nebraska and Roberta Fiegenbaum, of Peru, Nebraska, filed a return of marriage on 2 June 1923 at Sidney, Fremont County, Iowa. Clyde W. Martin, a mechanic who would be age 22 at his next birthday, was the son of Jessie Martin and Maggie Becker and had been born at Papillion, Nebraska. Roberta Fiegenbaum, who would be age 19 at her next birthday, was the daughter of Henry Fiegenbaum and Nellie Montgomery and had been born at Springfield, Nebraska. They were married on 2 June 1923 at Sidney, Fremont County, Iowa by G. S. Davis, "minister." This was the first marriage for both bride and groom. W. H. [Roberts?] and Mrs. G. S. Davis were witnesses to the ceremony.
         About seven years later, when Roberta G. Martin was conducting the enumeration for the 1930 U.S. census in the district in which she lived at the time (Springfield Precinct, Sarpy County, Nebraska), she recorded that she had been 16 years of age at the time of her marriage. She did not record how old her husband had been at that time.

Martin, a 29 year old farmer, his wife, Roberta G. Martin, age 23, and their two children: Mary Louise Martin, age 6, attending school; and Robert C. Martin, age 3 years, 5 months.

    Census (family):

         According to the 1940 U.S. enumeration, the household on a farm in Springfield Precinct consisted of Clyde Martin, age 39, his wife, Roberta (the enumerator), age 33, and their two children, both attending school: Mary Louise Martin, age 16, and Robert Martin, age 13. All four of them had been living in that same home in April 1935.
