According to the 1900 federal enumeration, Bertha, age 22, single, was living with her mother, Ida Siemers, and her five brothers and sisters: Eddie, Fred, Emma, Walter, and Ida. Also living with the family was Eddie Heckmann, an 18 year old farm laborer.

Buried:
Bertha (Siemers) Bierbaum was buried in Minier Cemetery. Her husband was buried next to her; they share a gravestone.

According to the 1910 U.S. census, Daniel and Bertha had been married for seven years. Two children had been born to the couple, but only one of these was still living: Milton Bierbaum. Details of the birth and death of the other child are not known at this time.

Residence (family):
According to a biographical sketch of his brother, Rev. H. H. Bierbaum, published in 1907, Daniel, also a minister, was living in Beecher, Illinois.

According to the 1910 federal enumeration, the household consisted of Daniel Bierbaum, age 32, a minister, and his wife, Bertha, age 32. They had been married for seven years and were the parents of two children, only one of whom was still living - Milton Bierbaum, age 2, born in Illinois.

Residence (family):
In September 1918, Daniel registered for the U.S. military draft. According to the information he provided, he and his "nearest relative," Mrs. Bertha Bierbaum, lived at 104 Union Street. He was a pastor at St. John's Evangelical Church, on Union Street. The registrar noted that the 40 year old Daniel was tall, of medium build, with brown eyes and black hair.

According to the 1930 federal enumeration, the household consisted of Daniel Bierbaum, a 52 year old minister in the Evangelical Church and his wife, Bertha Bierbaum, also age 52; and two of their children: Milton Bierbaum, age 22, at school; and Erna Bierbaum, age 18, at school. Also living in the home was Ernestine Bierbaum, Daniel's mother, age 75, a widow.
