Thomas Pope was a child of Lott Pope (1803-1866) and Ann (Goodman) Pope (1803-1878), who married "on May 26, 1828 in their original hometown of Taunton, England in the County of Cornwall, but later moved to London...." Their daughter, Elizabeth Pope, was born on 15 July 1845 at London. Thomas was Elizabeth's older brother and one of at least six children born to Lott and Ann Pope but the birth order is not given.
