At the age of 19, in 1894, he moved with his parents to near Rush Hill (Audrain County), Missouri. Around 1903, he and wife moved on to Saline County, Missouri, a few years after his parents had made the same move.

Grace and her husband Fredrick Andrew moved from Audrain County to Saline County around 1903. In 1912 they purchased a farm northeast of Blackburn, Saline County, Missouri.
