              Death of Mrs. Amelia M. Fiegenbaum
         Mrs. Amelia Mary Fiegenbaum, wife of Alderman Fred A. Fiegenbaum, died at her home, 713 Kings Highway, Wednesday morning at 3:30 o'clock. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon from the family residence to Woodlawn cemetery. Rev. John Schlagenhauf conducted the services. The pall bearers were Henry Mindrup, Herman Bollmann, Henry Stulken, Frank Gusewell, A. A. Suppiger.
         Mrs. Fiegenbaum was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Kriege, deceased, and was 40 years, 5 months and 26 days old. She was born October 7, 1854, and married Fred A. Fiegenbaum, March 27, 1874. She leaves surviving her husband, a brother, August Kriege, and seven children, four boys and three girls, viz: William, George, Otto, Charles, Minnie, Bertha and Caroline.
         She was a devoted Christian and for a long period a member of the German M. E. church. She was held in high esteem by all who knew her and these join in the grief of the family at her demise.

         According to information on his World War I draft registration card, filed on 12 September 1918, Otto August Fiegenbaum, age 36, and his nearest relative, Fred Fiegenbaum, his father, lived at 817 Kingshighway, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois. Otto reported that he was a farm laborer employed in Edwardsville. The Registrar of the local draft board, W. L. Estabrook, described Otto as a man of medium height (5 foot, 10 inches tall) and medium build; with grey eyes and dark hair. There were no physical characteristics that would disqualify him for military service.

         According to information on his World War II draft registration card, filed on 27 April 1942, Otto August Fiegenbaum lived at 925 Troy Road, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois. He gave as his permanent contact person Miss. Augusta Schomberg, of the same address. Otto reported that he was unemployed. The Registrar of the local draft board, Alice Cheek, described Otto as 5 feet, 10 inches tall; 160 pounds; with gray eyes, gray hair, and a ruddy complexion. He also had a "crooked middle finger, right hand."

    According to the 1920 U.S. enumeration, C. Norman Fiegenbaum, age 2 years, 10 months, lived at 623 North Kansas Street with his parents, H. Charles Fiegenbaum and Josephine Fiegenbaum, both age 33 years.

         According to the 1940 U.S. enumeration in April, Norman Fiegenbaum, age 23 and single, was living at 623 Kansas, in Ward 4, in the home of his parents, Charles Fiegenbaum, head of household, and his wife, Josephine Fiegenbaum, both age 53. Also in the home was Norman's brother, Edward Fiegenbaum, age 12 and single. Charles Fiegenbaum, a salesman in the oil industry, had not worked in 1939, was currently unemployed and was seeking work. Norman was a laborer in the oil industry, had worked 48 weeks in 1939 earning $1,140 and was currently employed. Josephine worked in the home and Edward was attending school.
         All four of these people lived in the same home in April 1935.

    Funeral services, under the direction of Rev. Sheryl Palmer, were held on Saturday morning at St. John's United Methodist Church, 7372 Marine Road, Edwardsville. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery, Edwardsville.

         Norman C. Fiegenbaum, age 97, of Edwardsville, Illinois died at 11:55 a.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the Rosewood Care Center in Edwardsville.
         Norman was a retired supervisor at Standard Oil Corporation in Wood River. After his retirement he was a consultant for American Oil Company in Kiev, Ukraine. He also served as Edwardsville Township Auditor.
         Norman was born March 16, 1917, in Edwardsville the son of the late Charles H. & Josephine F. (Barber) Fiegenbaum.
         He married Mary K. Fagg on July 20, 1940, in Edwardsville. She preceded him in death on January 2, 2006.
         Norman is survived by 1 son, Steven J. Fiegenbaum of Augusta, Georgia; 1 daughter, Carolyn Pulliam and her husband Bob of Edwardsville; 2 grandchildren, Shelley Schrader & husband Mark of Edwardsville & Melissa Pulliam of St. Louis; 1 great granddaughter, Sydney Schrader of Edwardsville.
         He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Edward W. Fiegenbaum.
         He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. He was also a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Edwardsville, American Legion Post 199 Edwardsville, the Edwardsville Lions Club, and the Edwardsville Gun Club. Norman was an avid golfer and an all-around sports enthusiast.
         Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at St. John's United Methodist Church.
         Services will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Rev. Sheryl Palmer officiating.
         Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery.
         Memorials may be given to St. John's United Methodist Church Building Fund.

    "Shirley May was born on the family farm west of Marine, in Pin Oak Township, Madison County, Illinois where she grew up. At age 7, she and her parents moved to their farm on Route 4 northwest of Marine, IL; she has lived there ever since until going into the nursing home [Hitz Memorial Nursing Home at Alhambra, Illinois] in 1995. Shirley had worked at the Marine Garment Factory for 20 years; then for Miss Elaine, Inc. in St. Louis, MO for 15 years. She retired in 1983 from the garment industry. She had taught Sunday School for some 30 years. She enjoyed working outdoors, gardening, and reading. She has volunteered at the Hitz Memorial Nursing Home since her mother's death, and was an avid sports fan following the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team. Miss May also enjoyed bowling for many years."

    A graveside service was held on Tuesday, 3 July 2007 at Marine Cemetery at Marine, Illinois by Rev. Philip H. Kershner of the Marine United Church of Christ, where Shirley was a member.
